Biorefinery integrated in paper recycling for the valorization of saccharides Plusieurs fichiers Paper and cardboard recycling has gained a lot of advancement during the last decades. To-date, the conventional route to separate and recycle these materials allows reaching 93% fiber recovery. The rest is found as solid and liquid rejects, accounting for 7%, which are not valorized yet. During recycling, part of the additives present in the board is lost, in particular starch which is used either as dry-strength agent to improve burst and bending properties of packaging papers, or as adhesive in the converting process. Starch represents up to 5-10% of the recovered paper and board in weight and when it ends up in the liquid rejects, it unfortunately favors the growth of microorganisms and fermentation reactions and contributes to the effluent’s chemical oxygen demand (COD).

Influence of the drying conditions on the surface properties of end-products during Roll To Roll surface functionalization - Comparison between copper and fibre-based strips Plusieurs fichiers The French government want to support reindustrialization projects in order to build the industries ofthe future. The manufacture of electric batteries will play an essential role in the next few years, andthis sector is at the forefront of the energy transition. Its structuring and competitiveness will dependon the deployment of a skilled workforce throughout the value chain (https://ecoledelabatterie.fr/).In this context and in order to optimize the production of batteries, it is necessary to deepen andunderstand several scientific barriers. The LGP2 has a recognized expertise for many years on thesurface functionalization of thin films in continuous process. The unit drying operation is essential toensure good productivity of the machine and the required quality of the finished product.

Innovative process for obtaining 3D cellulosic material to produce cellulose packaging solution Plusieurs fichiers The Chair “Cellulose Valley” deals with new cellulosic materials for innovative packaging solutions to propose single use plastic alternatives. The main idea is to develop bio-based, biodegradable and recyclable packaging solutions to answer expectations of our society. This chair is a consortium of several industrial partners, with several PhDs, Post-docs and Masters. The PhD proposal below concerns the development of innovative processes for 3D cellulosic material productions with specific functions to replace plastics.
