Francys Kley Vieira Moreira holds a degree in Food Engineering from the Federal University of Sergipe (2008). He holds a Master's degree (2010) and a PhD (2014) in Materials Science and Engineering, specialising in polymers, from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). He completed a doctoral internship (2013–2014) at the Western Regional Research Centre (WRRC-ARS/USDA).
He was also affiliated with The Molecular Foundry, part of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory at the University of California (USA), during the same period.
He is currently a professor in the Department of Materials Engineering (DEMa) at UFSCar. He is a pioneer and enthusiastic promoter of continuous casting in Brazil. He has experience in physical chemistry and polymer processing, nanoparticle synthesis, polymer nanocomposite development, and life cycle assessment (LCA). He is a specialist in polysaccharides. His current research focuses on the environmental assessment of technologies involving bionanocomposites, thin films, biodegradable plastics, double lamellar hydroxides, and multifunctional packaging.
