TERCEL exhibition at La Casemate, Grenoble

From May 27, La Casemate will be hosting the TERCEL exhibition, the fruit of collaboration between ENSAG and the CRAterre and LGP2 laboratories, with support from the Glyco@Alps program.
Today's waste is tomorrow's resource

Using washing sludge from quarries, raw earth and cellulose, the students designed prototypes for building finishes such as screens, false ceilings and wall ornaments. This waste material was transformed into durable, solid and aesthetically pleasing components, capable of meeting the technical requirements of the building industry. The work presented is based on a rigorous and experimental approach, combining design and ecological innovation. This approach highlights the contemporary potential of these age-old materials. It demonstrates that simple materials, often considered residual, can become the pillars of a more responsible architecture, reconciling performance, durability and aesthetic sense.

A reflection on our relationship with materials and the ecological transition

The TERCEL exhibition invites us to rethink our approach to materials, focusing on sustainable, local alternatives. By using bio-sourced materials, it shows that these wastes can be recycled in a circular, environmentally-friendly way. Through prototypes, the exhibition demonstrates that construction can be rethought to be more sustainable. It highlights the importance of revisiting our manufacturing methods and integrating greener practices into design.

Six projects resulting from collaboration between scientists and designers

The TERCEL exhibition highlights the richness of collaboration between scientists and designers, a synergy that opens the way to new ways of thinking about construction and reducing its environmental impact. The exhibition shows how creativity and science can come together to create innovative and aesthetically pleasing building components. Through six separate projects, students have explored different approaches to transforming waste materials into sustainable and functional solutions for architecture.
